Setup

Double-click.
Then play.

If you can double-click, you're done. Overseer finds your game, sets itself up and opens its control panel.

01

Windows 10 or 11

Overseer is one Windows download. Nothing else to install: no Python, no runtimes, no dev tools.

02

The game on Steam

Umamusume: Pretty Derby on Steam, Global or Japanese. Overseer finds it on any Steam drive.

03

Windowed or borderless

Run the game in windowed or borderless mode. English comes with Overseer; other languages download once, and then work offline.

Windows

Four steps to your first translated screen.

  1. Download Overseer

Get the zip from the Download page. It is the only file you need.

  2. Unzip it and double-click Overseer

Extract the zip to any folder and double-click the Overseer exe inside. The first time, Windows may show Windows protected your PC: choose More info, then Run anyway. If your antivirus flags it, see the FAQ.

  3. Let it set itself up

Overseer finds your game and installs itself. If another tool is using the same file, it says so and moves that tool safely aside with a backup. On the Japanese client it sets up its own small launcher.

  4. Play

The game launches and the panel opens. The panel lives at 127.0.0.1:1620 while the game is running, and every feature is a switch away.

If something is off

The panel will not loadThe game has to be running: the panel is served only while the game is open.
The game will not launchClose any other mod or tool that injects into the game. Deleting cri_mana_vpx.dll from the game's main folder alone puts the game back to vanilla.
A panel says a screen is not openSome tools read a screen only while you are on it. Open that screen in the game and the panel fills.

Uninstalling

Use Settings › General › Maintenance, or the uninstaller on the Download page if Overseer will not start. The game goes back exactly as it was. Your career records are kept unless you ask for them to go.

Your data

It lives beside the game, in UmamusumePrettyDerby_Data\Plugins\x86_64. Uninstalling the game through Steam removes that folder too, so copy anything you want to keep first.
